An ancient unfurling
The Ankoru was designed especially for the EGYPT | Beyond the Tomb exhibition at Te Papa and visually melds symbols from Egypt and New Zealand-Aotearoa in an 'ancient unfurling'.
The Ankh is the Egyptian hieroglyph for the word 'life'.
The Koru means life too. The stylised unfurled fern-frond is a ubiquitous Maori symbol that signifies new life and growth.
The stunning Ankoru marries these two symbols and thereby multiplies their evocation of the life-force in a single, potent icon.
Available as a pendant, a brooch or a keyring in both 24 carat gold-plated sterling silver or sterling silver.
Only available at Te Papa.
